This was recorded for BBC Radio 1, and I found it some time ago via @subvee’s dnb knowledge blog - subvee.com

Banshee suddenly started playing it today when on shuffle, so I thought I’d post it for your enjoyment

Sub Focus is a brilliant producer who can also step up to the turntables and put down a superb performance in front of a live audience as a DJ

nicky blackmarket mix

i’ve posted my all time favourite by the very talented nicky blackmarket on blip.fm

it’s there for your listening pleasure, and i recommend you go buy it: the mix was disc 2 in the helter skelter vs raindance: rave nation collection… some years ago.

the set takes you on a journey, starting out chilled with atlantis to tease you into the drum n bass and old skool jungle. for me the best part is the mix from “number 1” into “on a ragga tip”. i swear “on a ragga tip” has samples from iggy pop in there - you know, bits from the theme for the film trainspotting.

i feel no infringements of copyright or whatever have been committed or breached (before anyone gets any ideas) because 1) i own it, 2) i’ve posted it for streaming solely with the intention of promoting, 3) i’ve not given away mp3 or anything to anyone.

drum n bass is a sub-culture in the uk, the very darkest space in dance music. i’ve posted before on my favourite djs and mcs, and i say again - have a listen, and if you like what you hear then head over to slamminvinyl.com and grab some cd packs or some studio recordings.

pricing is sensible - for a score (£20 for those who don’t understand me) you usually get a minimum of 6 cds and a dvd of the highlights. i have a couple of double packs (12-14 cds + dvds), like the nye nec and sanctuary festival sets which are cheaper bought together.

whoever cuts the sets into tracks needs a pay rise, frankly, because they do a superb job of deciding where the next tune comes in.

DJ Darco’s December Mix

Darco runs DnB sessions on CSRfm, which I used to be a host/speaking person on - Dan, Master of the Understatement. We had a lot of fun, a lot of beer and a lot of guest DJs. There are loads of photos from the studio webcam here
